January 27th, 2009So, it seems that Obama has hit the ground running. No tangible results just yet, but there are several coals on the fire: Closing Guantanamo; moving the US to be more responsible with green house emissions; possibly starting talks with Iran. We are not even out of January yet and it feels like he has been more productive that good ol’ Mr. Bush these past few years. Hurray for someone who takes his job seriously.
Time for a change
January 20th, 2009What a speech. Mr. Obama officially took office today and gave a great speech. If you missed it, seek it out on the internet. At the time of this post, I wasn’t able to find an online copy to share.
I think our new President has a lot of work to do. I think if he lives up to even half of what he has committed/alluded to, he will certainly be one of our better presidents.
Here are some points of his speech that hit me hardest. These are not his exact words, which is why they are not in quotes, but they are my impressions based upon the words he said:
* We will once again take leadership of the free world. (Says alot about what he thinks of former president Bush)
* To all countries, we want to be friends. (This is the right attitude. No more peace thanks to pacts, etc… That just brings us all back to high school and our little cliques. Take a look at ‘Can’t buy me love’. That movie will show you that cliques are all just for show and games, and never amount to any good.)
* To all those wealthy and lazy, beware. This is a new United States where the working man is king. (I think this is great. To all you CEOs, CFOs, and any other C-words in corporate management. Stop being greedy and start helping out those who helped you. The working man and woman. Stop building your golden parachutes so when the US government bails your company out, you can take your bonus and watch the company flounder in the hopes of finding safety.)
I am by no means a political correspondant, or political expert. I am just another working man with a voice that under Mr Obama’s presidency hopes to be heard.
They said… they said…
January 12th, 2009One thing I find truly amazing in this day and age is things like this. This is an article about a stray mortar hitting a school in Gaza. First thing I should say is I am completely appalled at the actions of Israel. Second thing I should say is I will be the first to admit I don’t know, or understand, all of the history associated with Israel, the Gaza strip, and the Palestinians. Lastly, before I get back to my original point, I will just add that violence begets violence. Nothing will be solved by killing more people… NOTHING.
All that being said, back to my original point. I find it absolutely amazing that in this day and age, with spy satellites, video/laser guided munitions, etc… that people/countries can get away with saying someone fired a rocket from a school/hospital/<fill in your protected civilian structure here>. It would seem that this sort of information could be easily confirmed. Surely the US put a spy satellite over the field of action as soon as it started. Knowing the relationship between Israel and the US, they probably already had a satellite looking down on the site. Surely it could be easy to determine if the rocket was indeed fired from this protected structure as Israel claimed.

January 12th, 2009Hi All… No no… this site is not dead… at least not completely. Just nearly… 
One of my resolutions is to get back to posts. Mine tend to be a bit more serious (sorry) while Grimbo’s a bit less serious (hurrary) I will try and make sure that both of us keep up with posts.
Sad and Pathetic
February 6th, 2008So I finally upgraded my word press to the latest version. Before doing so I realized exactly how long it has been since either Grimbo (lazy bastard) or I (just a busy guy) has written on this blog. It is really sad and pathetic.
So, with that said, I am making my first post in a long while. As most of you know by now I am living in the United Kingdom, aka Great Britain, aka the place for lost souls…;-) Just kidding Grimbo. It isn’t all that bad. I have been living here since May of ’07. As you would expect the weather is crap most of the time, but on the occasion we do get some great sunshine. It is typically accompanied with some bitterly cold wind, but the sun is still nice.
We have made some great friends… and when I say ‘we’, I really mean my significant other Mrs Custard, named so by Grimbo’s older sis. She works outside the home, unlike myself… I am a home worker. Not to be confused with a home maker, or a domestic engineer. I just work out of my home. So interacting with people is few and far between.
Anyway, I promise to post an update here at least once a week outlining my trials and tribulations here. But for now I say good bye.

Political Comedy
June 8th, 2007Ah…that’s better – away from that ranting (apparently Paris is going back, she left the court crying and screaming – about friggin’ time) of the last few posts and onto something; a) funny as hell b) poignant c) tragic.
This was a vid sent to be me (corrected by Administrator to avoid embarassment) by the wifey by a band I’d not heard of called the Asylum Street Spanker’s and boy did they make me chuckle. The Video for “Stick Another Ribbon on your SUV” is another YouTube phenomenon and was released in 2006. Like all the best comedy it shows the tragedy in society by taking the piss out of it – Utterly inspired.
